State Institute of Intellectual Property
The State Institute of Intellectual Property was established in pursuance of the joint resolution of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Science and Education, and the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Industrial Policy of Ukraine "On Formation of the National System of Training, Retraining and Upgrading Professional Skills of Specialists in Intellectual Property Protection" of 1996.
The Institute enters into the state system of intellectual property protection. Its main goal is to provide training, retraining and upgrading professional skills of experts in the field of intellectual property as well as specialists of institutions, organizations and enterprises of any form of ownership. The Institute is carrying on its activity under the direct coordinative management of the State Department of Intellectual Property.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has issued the Institute with the licenses for educational activities on providing the second higher education with specialization “Intellectual Property” at the level of qualifying requirements to the training of:
- specialists (series AA No 122030), 75 persons per year;
- masters (series AA No 122464), 25 persons per year.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has assigned the Institute to the highest ²V level of accreditation (Certificate of Accreditation series NI-III No 117060).
Lines of Activities
Training of higher education specialists in the field of intellectual property (the second higher education).
Advanced training of intellectual property experts based on experience domestic and international in the current conditions of the market economy formation.
Cooperation with institutions, organizations and enterprises of any form of ownership, situated in the country and abroad, on training and upgrading of specialists in the legal protection management and the effective use of intellectual property.
Cultural-and-educational activity, publishing, research and production efforts.
Rendering assistance to develop production of high-technology and competitive products and elaborate the mechanism of developer rights protection when implementing advanced high-performance technologies and research-and-development achievements.
Scientific and methodological support for the "Intellectual property" category of educational specialization.
Researches and summarizing stored knowledge in the field of intellectual property.
Consulting services on intellectual property issues.
Foreign relations.
Research and Educational Staff
The Institute staff has numbered 25 persons, including 3 doctors of science and 10 candidates of science. The teaching process is carried out by involving therein key specialists of the state system of intellectual property protection – officers of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine , State Property Fund, NAS of Ukraine, the Department, Ukrpatent as well as patent attorneys.
The Institute graduates qualified as “intellectual property specialists” have a chance to be employed as: an engineer on patent, licensing and invention-related issues; a specialist in the field of intellectual property.
Material Resources
Every auditorium, administrative premises, two computer classrooms and the library of the Institute are fully supplied with the modern office equipment, communication facilities and technical aids.
All computers of the Institute classrooms are networked and provided with the means of access to Internet.
The Institute enrolls persons having Bachelor or Specialist (Master) Certificates on any line of training. The Entrance Commission is working all the year round. The enrollment is realized according to the results of interview in the presence of the required documents.
